And I did so fully expecting that a portion of my donation would go to administrative expenses and salaries. I guess maybe it's because I studied accounting in college and I understand that this would be a portion of any organization's budget. Or maybe it's just because I'm not an idiot.
I don't mind in the slightest if I helped pay the $24,000 salary Jane Hamsher and Glenn Greenwald are given for running the PAC. Nor do I mind helping pay any employees they have, or any rent they need to pay.
Sorry, I'm not outraged.
I just hope that anyone that gives money to any non-profit organization will realize that a portion of their donation WILL go to administrative expenses and salaries. Despite what you might have imagined, running non-profits is still actually work, it's still actually a job, and it does still actually deserve compensation. Furthermore, running non-profits still requires you pay rent, or buy supplies, or any number of other things.
If you didn't understand that, then now you know.
